Sustainability is climbing the agenda for more and more businesses, whether it’s driven by regulation, investor pressure, or simply a sense that things need to change. For anyone keeping an eye on this space, climate events are where the bigger picture comes into focus.

These gatherings bring together policymakers, businesses, and climate experts to discuss what’s working, what’s changing, and where things are heading next. For companies, they’re a useful way to stay ahead of regulatory developments, understand how peers are approaching climate goals, and spot opportunities for collaboration or innovation.

Below, we’ve rounded up the key climate events taking place in the second half of 2025 - mostly in Europe, with a few global ones included. Whether you’re attending in person or just following from afar, these are the moments worth knowing about.

UN Climate Change Conference (COP30)

What is it?

COP30 is the UN’s flagship climate summit, bringing together nearly every country to assess progress on the Paris Agreement and agree on new climate goals. Organized by the UNFCCC, it’s the central stage for global climate diplomacy. The 2025 edition will be held in Belém, Brazil – the first time a COP takes place in the Amazon. This location is symbolic, highlighting the urgency of protecting natural ecosystems and supporting climate justice. COP30’s agenda includes updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), finalizing the new global climate finance goal, and advancing rules on international carbon markets under Article 6.

More than 60,000 delegates are expected, including heads of state, ministers, UN officials, NGOs, Indigenous groups, scientists, and thousands of business leaders. Corporate attendees often include sustainability and legal teams, ESG investors, and climate tech innovators.

COP30 will influence climate policy, finance, and regulation for the years ahead. Countries are under pressure to strengthen their climate pledges in line with the 1.5°C goal. Key decisions on emissions, carbon pricing, and adaptation funding will directly affect companies, especially those with international operations or supply chains. The summit is also a major platform for corporate announcements and partnerships, providing visibility and alignment with global goals.

November 10–21, 2025, Belém, Brazil. Primarily in-person, with select sessions streamed online.
