In short, a lot could be said about the surrounding environment by doing an in-depth analysis of the soil. 
  • Air Monitoring: This method of environmental monitoring, also referred to as atmosphere monitoring, uses tools such as sensor networks from GIS models that can help collect environmental data to determine the current and future concentration of air pollution in the atmosphere. This can help to detect which substances being produced and emitted into the air are having the most adverse effect. 
  • Water Monitoring: This final main method of environmental monitoring makes use of sampling techniques such as adaptive cluster, stratified, grab, and simple random from bodies of water to assess the water quality and state of the environment in surrounding areas.

What are the challenges of environmental monitoring?

Environmental monitoring can be useful for businesses, policymakers, and stakeholders – but those seeking to implement the use of environmental monitoring should remain cognizant of the difficulties to be had. 

Here are a few challenges of environmental monitoring:

The advantages of environmental monitoring are clear: it can help to improve society, as it serves as a proactive measure to keep the environment safe and the world informed on how our actions impact the planet as climate change progresses.
